What is Naïve art?
A dream of beauty and magic
Naïve art is a distinctive form of visual expression, often created by self-taught artists who work outside traditional academic rules. What defines it is a unique combination of bright, vivid colors, richly detailed scenes, and a charming disregard for conventional perspective and proportion. The figures and landscapes may appear flat or stylized, yet they carry a deep emotional truth. This art form reflects a pure, almost childlike view of the world, full of sincerity, warmth, and imagination. It often draws from themes like everyday life, childhood memories, dreams, and nature, blending fantasy with reality in ways that feel both familiar and magical.
